I realized at some point last week that My Epic will be going on tour next month, just a handful of weeks away, and I have made nothing to sell. Absolutely nothing with My Epic splattered all over it. Last tour (the first tour I ever took with them), I made tshirts, Ipod cases, headbands and other random items to sell along with their merch. I sold everything except for two items so I am hoping to do the same thing again (plus the two items). Since I don’t play an instrument but know my way around a sewing machine pretty well, handmade items have become my means of making a living on tour. Let me just say, I have been the first person I have ever seen at a show with a sewing machine. Blazing a new trail…yeah.

all my shirts and sweaters are secondhand. i check them all for stains and tears. if they pass inspection, they become the bearers of a one-of-kind My Epic design.

all letters are hand-stitched. all other stitching is done on the machine.

i try to make a custom design for each shirt, but there are some common themes that repeat from item to item.

balloon hearts.

my epic in pink. this is my handwriting stitched!

we thought it would be fun to go do something illegal tonight. i was suffering from severe boredom so we decided to venture down to the local train tracks and do some exploring. i got to carry a knife, and it was no wimpy Swiss army knife either. and i brought my id along, just in case.
yes, we may be losers but at least we try to live a little.

this is what happens when you force a cat to take a photo with you
these are my children. fortunately for me and for them, i am their “mother” for only six hours a week. let me introduce you…

this is lydia.

this is zadie.
yes, you guessed it. they are twins. identical twins, to be correct. they have beautiful blue eyes and will someday have the red, red hair like their mom’s. but for right now, they will have to deal with the fact that their hair (and eyebrows, too!) are so fair, it looks like they have none.
as for behavior, these girls are pretty easy-going, unless they are tired, hungry, bored, itching, irritated, upset, scared, etc. for the most part, i never get overwhelmed when watching them, except when crying is involved. yesterday, i heard zadie scream and cry like i hadn’t yet heard before and then lydia began to whimper and cry a little and that was the moment i gave kudos to all moms. motherhood must be in the top ten of the hardest, most draining, most taxing jobs on the face of this planet. not only does it tax your body in mortifying ways, it tests your emotional and mental sanity daily. any lone person with two screaming babies at their side could back me up on this one. all i got to say is kudos, mom.
now i must rectify the situation at hand. selva has just deposited a vole in our home. i’ve kicked her out but have lost the vole in the process. in case you do not know what a vole is here’s wikipedia to the rescue - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vole

we have an idea to take a picture of ourselves everyday (until we get too lazy to do it) so we can watch ourselves age. we’ll see how long we can keep this up. these photos were taken yesterday morning.
